“Clova Stuart-Hamilton, unswayed by trends, paints what she sees. Relishing intricacy and profusion, she deploys the myriad colour touches that coalesce on her canvas to create, over and over again, a triumphantly luminous web of form”
It was a pleasure and a challenge to revisit Oxford Art Society as their Guest Selector for their 2025 Open Exhibition in September. The final selection of 2 and 3 D work was expertly hung and displayed in the Kendrew Barn gallery at St John’s College.
In May Clova opened the doors of her Music Room gallery and studio as part of Oxford City Artweeks 2025. Jericho, a hub for artists and makers, is one of the long established sub-sections of the city festival with its own trail map - this year it featuring 30 venues in close proximity. The appeal of the locality with its many cafés, restaurants and pubs combined with excellent publicity brought an unprecedented number of visitors to her exhibition and many sales.
As we go into the autumn Clova has been invited to teach some life drawing classes in Magdalen College - a project started by Francis Hamel to provide an opportunity for any member of the college community to have tutored sessions in the well appointed Daubeny Building.
